Collingwood Hotel Ilfracombe Demolition-the end! Part three

I have to say I've looked at the plans for the new Wetherspoons and it looks like it's going to be a great asset to the seafront. Gorgeous outdoor areas and I like the overall design.

Obvious that people have fond memories of the place, but boarded up and empty it was clear that it wasn't the best example of Victorian architecture, more a collection of building strung together in a fairly random way. Great to see it come down and be replaced by something that appears to be altogether more impressive.

Sad indeed to see another part of the 'old' Ilfracombe succumb to old age. I worked in the Collingwood briefly about 43 years ago! I hope any new developments in Ilfracombe can bring some new life to a great town. I've been away from there for 30 years but still refer to it as 'home' !

Picture 39 is quite sad really in a way. Sad to see what must of once been such a fine building just gone like that.
