Seven teams will be at the starting line in Shoreham on Thursday 29th July, with three of the participants involved having children afflicted with the muscle wasting disease Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Dominic Stacey whose son, also named Dominic suffers with the disease came up with the concept of the Duchball Rally and has transformed his old banger into a tank thanks to the donations and support of Robins Garage in Ilfracombe.
Dominic, who has just had a tattoo of the Rally logo on his leg and will be dressed up as Mr T from The A Team for the duration of the trip told Ilfracombe People "I picked Shoreham entirely by random using Google Earth and posted the event on Facebook. Two fathers from Shoreham then contacted me wanting to get involved and raise as much money as possible as their sons are also sufferers of the disease. Their car will be the Chavmobile!" Click here to visit the Duchball Rally website and see pictures of all the teams and cars involved.
The route which has been dubbed "600 miles of madness!" will be following the Southern England coast down to Penzance near Lands End, then travel up the west coast of Cornwall to North Devon making several stops along the way to collect money and let the locals admire the lovely automotive creations!
The Rally Finale will be held at the Wheel Inn in Ilfracombe on Saturday 31st July from 6pm onwards. Dominic would like to encourage all local people to come down and show their support for this worthy cause at the after-party "We have got a fantastic evening planned with a live acoustic band, 80's disco and a raffle with some great prizes including two tickets to see Dirty Dancing at the Aldwych Theatre in London!" This is such a fantastic idea, and for a great cause. I am looking forward to seeing the vehicles making their way through Ilfracombe like in Wacky Races!

ReportWow i think this is really great, well done Domonic. I know a family who's son has Duchenne and they struggle to find people to talk to who understand the disease. It not only raises awareness, but is a support for the suffering families. I'm definately going.
