Are you ready to vote in the local council elections in Ilfracombe tomorrow?
-
Get your poll card ready for the Ilfracombe Elections tomorrow.
By now you should have received your poll card letting you know which polling station to vote at; whether it be the Lantern, The Landmark, The Rugby Club, the Trinity Rooms or Slade Vision Centre.
Voting will take place from 7am until 10pm. Make sure you arrive in plenty of time before the polling station closes, as you cannot be issued with a ballot paper after 10pm, even if you join the queue before that.
Ilfracombe residents will be voting in the 4-yearly local parish and district council elections as well as the national referendum on the alternative voting system used to elect MPs to the House of Commons.
At present, the UK uses the ‘first past the post’ system to elect MPs to the House of Commons. The referendum is asking voters to decide if the alternative vote system is a fairer way of going about things and should be used instead. To help you decide whether you're for or against the alternative vote, click here to view a short film explaining the difference between the two voting methods.
I'm sure you've received a flurry of flyers through your door, but if you haven't yet made up your mind who to vote for; check out the list of district councillors vying for your vote here
