Ilfracombe Local History & Architecture Appreciation Group

Good news for our Group! Ilfracombe History Group (ILHAAG) is now affiliated to the main Devon History Society. This will bring added benefits to members of our Group.

We have been asked to host their Spring Seminar here in Ilfracombe and the date for that is Saturday April 2nd 2011. (Nothing like being thrown in at the deep end!)
The venue is The Carlton and includes 3 speakers, morning and afternoon coffee and biscuits, buffet lunch of soup and sandwiches and free admission for a visit in the afternoon to the museum. Total inclusive price for the day £7.50. Bargain! Anyone wishing to come along and support this event will be most welcome. Our March meeting takes place on Thursday 24th March at The Royal Britannia when we have a talk on the history and involvement of the Rotary Club in St Nicholas’ Chapel. Our evening meetings are turning into real social occasions with a regular attendance of around 30 people. The meetings are very informal and take place in their restaurant so plenty of seating but then always seem to end up in the bar! Come along and see what we are all about.
