A Barnstaple man has been arrested after a stabbing incident that took place at a Woolacombe campsite at around 2am today, Monday 4th October.

Police were called after receiving a report that a 22-year-old man from Braunton had been stabbed in the hand.

On arrival, officers were confronted by a man who ignored their verbal commands, threatening violence to anyone who approached him and being abusive. He was also believed to be in possession of a bladed weapon.

The area was unlit and, given the danger to officers and members of the public, tazer was deployed to subdue the suspect.

The 19-year-old Barnstaple man was arrested and taken to Barnstaple Police Station where he remains in custody.

The victim is being treated in hospital.

Excellent ideas, councillor! We really do need to rid ourselves of criminals, and by criminals I mean people who make us feel frightened and anxious, such as burglars, out of control drug addicts, car thieves, etc., and all the people who can seriously ruin your day with their dishonesty. Take 'em out.

Not a bad idea, although the Falklands are already populated, so seems a bit unfair. What about the Hebrides or the Orkneys? Must be an empty one there somewhere? Refurb a few of the crofter's huts, and get the navy to sail around the island to keep heroin dealers away.
Hey presto, cheap prison with excellent rehabilitation possibilities!

He's 19. He's been tazered. He's in custody. He's at the beginning of his criminal career. I think that a huge camp should be built on the Falkland Islands where these people can be dumped for thirty years.
