Roll up, roll up for the Summer Reading Challenge at Ilfracombe Library!

To take part in the challenge, children need to pick up their starter pack which includes a 3D stage and then read six books during the summer to get their certificate-collecting scratch and sniff stickers along the way! For all children that complete the challenge, there will be a fun free activity in September.

This year the theme is Circus Stars! Visit the Library between 10.30am-12.30pm on Tuesday 26th July to pick up your starter pack and have your face painted as a clown, then learn some circus skills with a free workshop with Steve from Circus Berzercus-no need to book, just pop in!

The fun continues on Friday 5th August from 2pm until 4pm when children aged 3+ can hear a circus story and then make a paper clown to take home for just £1 per child.

Look the part and become a circus star by making a crazy haired clown hat workshop on Friday 12th August from 2pm until 4pm. Suitable for ages 3+, this activity also costs just £1 per child.

Is your house like a circus in the summer holidays? Add to the crazy atmosphere by making your very own Big Top complete with mini circus characters to take home on Friday 19th August from 2pm-4pm. £1 per child, for ages 5 and up.

Finally, A Bug's Life with Devon Wildlife Trust will be held at the library on Thursday 25th August from 2pm until 4pm. No it's nothing to do with the circus, but don't let that stop you joining in the nature based activity. Learn about invertebrates and join in some crafts for ages 5+. £1 per child.

Booking is essential for all activities apart from the Circus Berzercus workshop on 26th July. To book your child a place, pop in to the library or give them a call on 01271 862388.

There will also be a Circus Stars Workshop at Combe Martin Library during Combe Martin Carnival week at 10am on Thursday 11th August. Try your hand at plate-spinning, diablo, face painting and more. Suitable for ages 6-12, this event is free but booking is essential either pop in to Combe Martin Library or call 01271 882321.
