The Olympic flame will be coming through Ilfracombe on Monday 21st May 2012.

All of the 1,018 communities through which the Olympic Flame will be carried by Torchbearers during the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay have now been announced. The journey will last 70 Days across the UK from 19 May – 27 July 2012. The Olympic Flame will arrive from Greece on 18 May 2012, but details of where it will arrive in the UK are still being finalised.

The Torch Relay will begin at Land's End on 19 May 2012 and the flame will travel over 8,000 miles. A different town and city of the UK will welcome the Olympic Flame every evening of the Torch Relay, and the Olympic Flame will come within 10 miles of 95% of people in the UK, Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey- and will be passing through a route local to us on the third day of the relay on Monday 21st May 2012.

The flame will leave Exeter on the Monday morning after the celebratory evening on Sunday May 20th and will pass through Bideford - Sticklepath - Barnstaple - Wrafton - Braunton - Knowle - Ilfracombe - Combe Martin - Lynton - Lynmouth, all the way up to Taunton where the next evening celebration will be held.

If you nominated someone to be a torchbearer, your nomination will be put forward to one of 12 judging panels around the UK. The stories will remain anonymous as the panels select the 2,012 most inspiring people to be one of the 8,000 Torchbearers needed in total for the Olympic Torch Relay. The nominees will have around a one in 14 chance of being a Torchbearer. Successful nominees will be contacted with a conditional offer in December 2011, with Torchbearer places confirmed in February 2012. The final Torchbearer will carry the Flame into the Olympic Stadium during the Opening Ceremony on 27 July 2012. The cauldron will be lit, and Games of the XXX Olympiad will be officially open!

Dont worry it will probably be Olympic gold medal winner Jonathan Edwards carrying the torch and he will just hop, skip and jump over all obstacles.
