Man charged with murder after shooting in Parracombe

At around 5.40pm on Sunday 18th September Police attended a remote property located near Parracombe following a reported domestic related incident.

A man has been charged with murder after the shooting in Parracombe last Sunday.
On arrival Police found the body of a woman aged in her 40's in the grounds of the property having sustained apparent gunshot wounds.
A man in his 50's was located and arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.
Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.
The premises remains cordoned off and police crime scene investigators are at the scene conducting a forensic examination.
Police are continuing their enquiries at the scene, and have conducted high visibility patrols within the Parracombe area to offer reassurance to residents.
Officers have described the incident as extremely rare, and are working with the community to allay any concerns that residents may have.
David Thomas Leeman a 59 year old male from Parracombe has been charged with murder. He has been kept in custody and appeared at Barnstaple Magistrates Court on Wednesday 21st September 2011. He was remanded in custody to appear at Exeter Crown Court today (Friday 23rd September).
