Lighting of the Lights 2012 – Ilfracombe gets into the Christmas Spirit

Now Ilfracombe has officially celebrated the arrival of Verity with its magnificent Party on the Pier last Friday night, it's time to get into the Christmas spirit with this week's Christmas Lights Switch On.

This Wednesday an as yet unnamed celebrity will switch on Ilfracombe's Christmas lights at 7pm. The good news is no rain is currently forecast for Wednesday evening, although it will be colder.

In addition to the switch on, the wonderful children's candle-lit procession will take place through the town. Youngsters from the junior school are already preparing for the big night, making their lanterns.

The children's procession will begin at 6.35pm, starting from Oxford Grove car park, before making its way to the town's War Memorial. All children are welcome to join in this lovely event.  There will also be late night shopping.
