No need to rely on Santa-Ilfracombe has several shopping events taking place in the run-up to Christmas 2011.
There are jumble sales, craft fairs and festive bazaars galore happening in Ilfracombe in the run up to Christmas 2011. It all starts this Saturday with a double whammy bonanza extravaganza. Both The RNLI and MyStart Children's Centre are holding fundraising Christmas shopping events on Saturday 19th November. The My Start Autumn Fayre is on from 10am until 12noon with fun planned throughout the morning including a lucky dip, cake stall, jewellery stall, children's activities, face painting, tombola, crafts and produce for sale, a raffle and much more! Down at the Lifeboat Station the RNLI Christmas Fayre offers stalls, games, prizes, presents and refreshments as well as the opportunity to meet up with Stormy Stan and pay the obligatory visit to Father Christmas!
The fortnightly Farmers market is at the Lantern Centre on Sunday 20th November, where you can pick up beautiful fresh local produce and browse the craft stalls from 10am until 12.30pm. The Lantern also has a Christmas fair and tabletop sale on Friday 25th November where you can purchase presents and other festive goods. Before that however, don't forget to pop in to Ilfracombe Museum on Thursday 24th November for their Craft and Coffee morning where you can drop in for a coffee between 10.30am-12.30pm and browse the crafty gifts for sale, or join in with their 'crafty ladies' who will show you how to make some festive gifts!
The Annual Christmas Fayre at Chambercombe Manor is always a festive event to remember, and is on Sunday 27th November this year from 11am until 5pm. Pay £2 to get in (kids go free) and throughout the day expect to see the Red Petticoats dancing, a children's magic show with Kieron the Mighty and Father Christmas in the Great Hall. Plus meander your way through the ancient Manor with a mug of mulled wine as you peruse the various stalls lining the corridors. To see pictures of the 2010 Fayre click here.
The Christmas Fair at Ilfracombe Library proved to be a popular fun and festive event last year and will be repeated this year on Friday 2nd December from 6-8.30pm. As well as craft and gift stalls there will be face painting for kids, singing from Ilfracombe Junior School Music club and a huge sale of ex-library books from just 40p. Not forgetting of course a glass of wine and a mince pie!
And finally...don't forget to shop till you drop and have a stroll through the stalls at Ilfracombe's Lighting of the Lights event on Wednesday 30th November and be sure to visit the Ilfracombe Indoor Market for some extra gift ideas.
